Peter Mennigen was born in Bonn in 1952 and studied art and design in Cologne. He began working as an author in 1978, initially writing stories for German comic and pulp series including “Gespenster Geschichten,” “Conny,” “Lasso,” and “Phantom.” He later contributed to works featuring characters and series such as “Lucky Luke,” “The Smurfs,” “Iznogoud,” “Prince Valiant,” “Fix und Foxi,” “ALF,” and “Käpt’n Blaubär.” In addition to comics, Mennigen wrote novels, audio plays, and screenplays and scripts for television productions including “Tim Thaler,” “RTL Samstag Nacht,” and “Käpt’n Blaubär.” He also worked on film-related projects and content for CD-ROMs and internet programs.
