Peter Habeler

Peter Habeler, born in 1942 in Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley, is an Austrian mountaineer. He became internationally known through early repetitions of extreme climbing routes, before his ascent of Mount Everest. Habeler led Austria’s mountain and ski guide training for many years. In 1999, he was awarded the title of professor for his contributions to alpine safety.
