Peter H. Feist

Peter H. Feist (1928–2015) studied art history, history and archaeology in Halle, where he worked as an assistant and lecturer from 1952 to 1958 and received his doctorate in 1958. He subsequently worked at Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1982 to 1990, he directed the Institute for Aesthetics and Art Studies at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in East Berlin. Feist published extensively on art history and art theory. TASCHEN published his monograph on Pierre-Auguste Renoir and, as co-author, the volume “Impressionism”.
