Peter Burke

Peter Burke (born 1937) studied at Oxford and taught cultural history at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, from 1978 onward. He is an emeritus professor and the author of numerous books on the cultural history of early modern Europe and the history of historical thought. His works include *Giganten der Gelehrsamkeit* and *Die Explosion des Wissens*; his books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
