Paul Watzlawick

Paul Watzlawick (1921–2007) was born in Villach, Carinthia, and studied philosophy and languages. He completed psychotherapeutic training at the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich. From 1957 to 1960, he was a professor of psychotherapy in El Salvador and later taught at Stanford University. His work focused on the significance of communication in interpersonal relationships. His best-known books include The Situation Is Hopeless, But Not Serious and The Badness of Good. Watzlawick died in Palo Alto, California.
