Patrick Modiano

Patrick Modiano, born in 1945 in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, is a French author. His first novel, “La Place de l’Étoile,” was published in 1968. He wrote numerous novels, children’s books, plays and screenplays; recurring themes in his work include memory, forgetting and the period of the German occupation. Modiano received, among other honors, the Grand Prix du Roman de l’Académie française, the Prix Goncourt and the Austrian State Prize for European Literature. In 2014, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
