Patañjali is regarded as an Indian sage and is traditionally credited with composing or codifying the Yoga Sutras. The dating of his life is uncertain and varies in the sources, ranging from around 200 BCE to the 2nd–4th centuries CE. Written in Sanskrit, the Yoga Sutras consist of 195 aphorisms and address the philosophical and practical aspects of classical yoga, particularly Raja Yoga.
