Born in 1941, papan trained as a bookseller and worked as a theater prop master. For twenty years, he drew for the magazine stern and also contributed work to Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Brigitte. As an illustrator and author, he worked on children’s books and audiobooks. For mare, he illustrated Die wundersamen Irrfahrten des William Lithgow, edited by Roger Willemsen, in 2009, and Rolf-Bernhard Essig’s Butter bei die Fische in 2010.
