Oliver Marchart

Oliver Marchart, born in Vienna in 1968, is a philosopher and sociologist. In 2016, he became Professor of Political Theory and the History of Ideas at the University of Vienna’s Department of Political Science. He led the project “Making Democracy.” His areas of research include democratic theory, the history of political ideas, social movement studies, political discourse analysis, and populism.
