Oliver Hilmes (born 1971) holds a doctorate in contemporary history. His professional career has included work as a curator for the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation. His books include biographies of Alma Mahler-Werfel, Cosima Wagner, Franz Liszt and Ludwig II, as well as the works of contemporary history »Berlin 1936. Sechzehn Tage im August« and »Schattenzeit. Deutschland 1943: Alltag und Abgründe«. He also published the crime novel »Das Verschwinden des Dr. Mühe. Eine Kriminalgeschichte aus dem Berlin der 30er Jahre«. »Berlin 1936« was translated into several languages and received international awards.
