Noemi Smolik

Noemi Smolik grew up in Prague and studied in Cologne and New York. She earned a doctorate in art history in 1987. She taught at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg and in Dresden, and published writings on contemporary and Russian art in publications including the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Artforum, e-flux, Frieze, and Kunstforum. In 2020, she received the Art Cologne Prize for Art Criticism. She was also a co-founder of the Hope Recycling Station in Prague, a platform addressing decolonization and racism in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
