Nils Melzer

Nils Melzer (born 1970) is an international law scholar. He taught in Glasgow and Geneva and was appointed UN Special Rapporteur on torture by the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2016. Earlier in his career, he served as a security policy adviser to the Swiss government and worked as a legal adviser and delegate for the International Committee of the Red Cross in war zones and crisis areas.
