Nathan Englander was born in New York in 1970 and grew up in a Jewish community on Long Island. He studied English literature and Jewish history in Jerusalem and New York. His professional positions have included serving as Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University. His published works include the novel The Ministry of Special Cases and the story collection What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank. The collection received the Frank O’Connor Short Story Award and was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize. His other works include the novel Dinner at the Center of the Earth.
