Naoki Urasawa

Naoki Urasawa, born in 1960 in Tokyo Prefecture, made his debut as a manga artist in 1984. He gained international recognition with the crime thriller series „Monster“, which began publication in 1994. His other notable works include „20th Century Boys“, „Pluto“—an adaptation of Osamu Tezuka’s „Astro Boy“—and the 20-volume series „Billy Bat“. Urasawa has received, among other honors, two Eisner Awards and the Max and Moritz Prize of the City of Erlangen.
