Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah

Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah was born in 1990 in Spring Valley, New York, to Ghanaian parents and studied fine arts. He gained recognition with his debut, *Friday Black*, a short-story collection that became a New York Times bestseller. The book earned him the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award; he also received the Saroyan Prize and the National Book Foundation’s 5 Under 35 honor. *Friday Black* was also shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. His work has appeared in publications including *The New York Times Book Review*, *Esquire*, and *The Paris Review*.
