Monika Laimgruber

Monika Laimgruber was born in Klagenfurt in 1946. After moving to Hamburg, she studied graphic design and book design at the Hochschule für bildende Künste from 1963 to 1968. She created more than one hundred books, including picture books, collections of fairy tales, anthologies and songbooks, which were published in numerous countries. She also illustrated children’s books and worked on posters, stage designs and illustrated stories for television. Her books were repeatedly selected among the “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” and the “Most Beautiful Books of Austria.” She received the Illustration Prize of the City of Vienna twice, as well as Austria’s State Prize for Illustration, and was once included on the Hans Christian Andersen Award Honour List.
