Mitch Anderson was a co-founder and executive director of Amazon Frontlines, a nonprofit organization advocating for the land, life, and cultural rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon region. In 2011, he initiated a clean-water project in Ecuador for Indigenous communities living in areas affected by oil extraction. The project helped establish more than 1,000 fresh-water systems in over 70 villages. Anderson also supported the founding of the Indigenous-led Ceibo Alliance, which received the UN Equator Prize.
