Miroslav Sasek

Miroslav Sasek (1916–1980) was born in Prague. Originally trained as an architect, he later began writing children’s books. After the communist takeover in 1948, he emigrated to Munich, where he worked for Radio Free Europe from 1951 to 1957. His best-known books include illustrated city portraits such as *Munich*, *Paris*, *London*, *Rome*, *New York*, and *Venice*.
