Mirko Kraetsch

Mirko Kraetsch, born in Dresden in 1971, studied Czech and Slovak studies and cultural studies at Humboldt University of Berlin and Charles University in Prague. From 2000 onward, he worked as a freelance translator of Czech and Slovak literature into German, including fiction, drama, and poetry. Authors he translated include Bianca Bellová, Michal Hvorecky, Emil Hakl, and Jaroslav Rudiš. Kraetsch also worked as a literary mediator, moderator, and nonfiction author. Alongside his work in the literary field, he also worked as a bookkeeper.
