Mike Schmeitzner

Mike Schmeitzner, born in 1968, is a historian. From 1998 onward, he worked as a research associate at the Hannah Arendt Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism at TU Dresden and taught as a visiting professor at the University of Erfurt in 2010–11. As a postdoctoral lecturer and adjunct professor, he focused on concepts of dictatorship, the Weimar Republic, National Socialism, the Soviet occupation zone and early GDR, the history of the labor movement, and Soviet special courts in Germany. His publications include several studies of Richard Löwenthal.
