Michelle Paver

Michelle Paver was born in 1960 in what is now Malawi to a South African father and a Belgian mother, and grew up in England. She studied biochemistry at Oxford and worked for several years as a patent lawyer at a London law firm before turning to writing. She is known for the historical horror novels *Dark Matter* and *Thin Air*, as well as the award-winning children’s series *Chronicles of Ancient Darkness*. In researching the series, she undertook extensive journeys into the wilderness of Finnish Lapland.
