Michelle Alexander

Michelle Alexander is a lawyer, civil rights advocate, and academic. She studied at Stanford Law School and Vanderbilt University. For several years, she led the Racial Justice Project of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in Northern California and the Civil Rights Clinic at Stanford University Law School. As an attorney, she specialized in class-action lawsuits involving racial and gender discrimination. Her academic work included teaching at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity and at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University.
