Michaela Koschak (born 1977) studied meteorology at Freie Universität Berlin. In 1998, she founded a weather company with Austrian colleagues that produced, among other things, weather reports for the German broadcaster SAT.1. She worked for the weather service company Meteomedia until 2012 and subsequently worked as a freelance meteorologist and weather presenter for several media outlets, including MDR, NDR, RBB and ARD. In 2008, she developed the television program “Kinderwetter,” which explained weather phenomena to children in an accessible way. The program led to several children’s weather books, followed by further publications on weather and climate. She also worked as a columnist and co-authored the book “Die Wetterküche.”
