Michaela Karl, born in 1971, studied political science, history and psychology in Berlin, Munich and Passau. In 2001, she received her doctorate from the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation on Rudi Dutschke. She published books on the women’s movement as well as numerous biographies, including works on Dorothy Parker, Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Bonnie and Clyde, and Unity Mitford. She received the Bavarian Culture Prize in 2020 and the Bavarian Poetentaler in 2022.
