Michael Wrede

Michael Wrede is an author and illustrator of children’s and young adult books, as well as a graduate designer specializing in illustration. After studying architecture and gaining 15 years of professional experience, he completed a second degree at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. He published numerous picture books and also worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for textbooks, magazines, and book covers. Wrede taught illustration and led professional development workshops. In 2011, he co-founded the Academy of Illustration and Design in Berlin; in 2017, he initiated the “Buntspecht” children’s book competition.
