Michael Schophaus

Michael Schophaus, born in 1956, studied sports science in Cologne and attended the Henri Nannen School of Journalism. He subsequently worked as an editor for Stern in Hamburg and as a freelance journalist for publications including taz, Merian, GEO, Zeit Magazin, and Tagesspiegel. As a nonfiction author, he published Im Himmel warten Bäume auf dich in 2001, describing the death of his son Jakob from cancer. The book became a bestseller and was translated into several languages. In Zu jung, um alt zu sein, he wrote about progeria, a rare condition associated with premature aging.
