Michael Schmid

Michael Schmid worked as a freelance journalist and in marketing and advertising before turning to writing. He published eight books for young readers and a crime novel. He is also known for his art and culture guides to Vienna, including volumes on Gustav Klimt, Vienna’s Ringstrasse, Josef Hoffmann, the architecture of Hietzing and the buildings associated with the Wagner School. Schmid also worked as a photographer; his photographs and photo-art projects were shown in exhibitions in Austria and abroad.
