Michael Popp

Michael Popp (1942–2017) was born in Nuremberg and studied art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1962. He co-founded the KEKS group and, from 1968, taught art at Labenwolf Gymnasium in Nuremberg. In 1969, he was a founding member of the Nuremberg Center for Art Education. From 1973 to 1987, he served as the municipal director of KOMM and was involved in planning the Nuremberg-Langwasser comprehensive school. He subsequently headed the City of Nuremberg’s Office for Culture and Leisure until 2000. He published and lectured on topics including aesthetic education, children’s museums, administrative reform, and cultural policy principles.
