Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman was born in England in 1945. He earned a master’s degree in geography from the University of Oxford and then worked for six years in London’s advertising industry. In 1971, he traveled through the Amazon with two second-hand cameras. After Time-Life published his photographs, he began a career as a professional photographer. Freeman published numerous books on photography, more than 60 of them focused on photographic practice. His best-known works include “The Photographer’s Eye.” His photography books were translated into 27 languages and sold more than four million copies worldwide. He received the Prix Louis Philippe Clerc from France’s Ministry of Culture for his educational work in photography.
