Michael Engelhardt

Michael Engelhardt was born in Erlangen in 1952. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where he completed his studies in Rudolf Hausner’s master class. Hausner, a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, later employed him briefly as a private assistant. From 1980 onward, Engelhardt worked as a freelance artist. Study trips, particularly to Greece, the Himalayas and West Africa, influenced his artistic work.
