Michael Dibdin (1947–2007) was a British crime writer born in Wolverhampton. He studied English literature in England and Canada, then taught for four years at the University of Perugia. He became best known for his crime series featuring Aurelio Zen, a police commissioner investigating cases in Italy; eleven novels in the series were published. Dibdin received the CWA Gold Dagger and the Grand prix de littérature policière. His novels were translated into numerous languages and adapted by the BBC as a television series. He died in Seattle in 2007.
