Michael Bond

Michael Bond (1926–2017) was an English children’s author, crime writer, BBC cameraman and screenwriter. He began working as a writer in 1946. He became known for his stories about Paddington Bear, first published in 1958 and later collected in fifteen volumes. The character was inspired by a teddy bear Bond found at Paddington Station. In 1997, he was appointed to the Order of the British Empire for his services to children’s literature.
