Mercedes Rosende (born 1958 in Montevideo, Uruguay) studied law and integration policy and worked as a lawyer and journalist. As a writer, she has published novels and short stories. Her work has received several awards, including the Premio Municipal de Narrativa in 2005 for “Demasiados Blues,” Uruguay’s National Literature Prize in 2008 for “La Muerte Tendrá tus Ojos,” and the Código Negro in 2014 for “Falsche Ursula.” In 2019, her novel “Krokodilstränen” received the LiBeraturpreis.
