Meral Kureyshi

Meral Kureyshi was born in 1983 in Prizren, in what was then Yugoslavia, and came to Switzerland with her family in 1992. She studied literature and German studies and founded the Lyrikatelier in Bern. As a freelance author, she published the novel “Elefanten im Garten,” which was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize, received several awards, and was translated into numerous languages. Her second novel, “Fünf Jahreszeiten,” received the “Das zweite Buch” literary prize from the Marianne and Curt Dienemann Foundation in manuscript form. In 2020, Kureyshi was invited to the Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt.
