Megan Abbott, born in Detroit in 1971, studied at the University of Michigan and earned a doctorate in Anglo-American literature from New York University. She taught at the State University of New York and the New School University. Abbott wrote several novels, and her work appeared in the New York Times, the Guardian, the Wall Street Journal, and Los Angeles Times Magazine. She was nominated for numerous awards. She also edited the crime anthology A Hell of a Woman and published the study The Street Was Mine: White Masculinity in Hardboiled Fiction and Film Noir.
