Max Porter (born 1981) studied art history and initially worked as an independent bookseller and editor. His work as a bookseller earned him the Young Bookseller of the Year Award; from 2012, he was an editor at Granta Books. His literary debut, *Grief Is the Thing with Feathers*, received several awards, including the International Dylan Thomas Prize and the Europese Literatuurprijs. His second novel, *Lanny*, was longlisted for the Booker Prize. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages.
