Matthew Reilly

Matthew Reilly (born 1974 in Sydney) is an Australian author. His parents were theatre actors. He wrote his first novel at the age of 19. After publishers rejected the manuscript, Reilly had 1,000 hardcover copies printed and marketed them himself to bookshops. This brought him to the attention of Pan Macmillan, which signed him to a publishing contract. His novel *Ice Station* became an international bestseller and established his career. Reilly is best known for action thrillers with fantastical elements and has also worked as a screenwriter.
