Mathilde Arnoux

Mathilde Arnoux is an art historian. In 2003, she earned her doctorate at Université Paris IV Paris-Sorbonne with a dissertation on the reception of Germanic painting in French museums between 1871 and 1981. From 2006 onward, she worked as a research department head at the German Center for Art History in Paris. Between 2011 and 2016, she directed the ERC project “OwnReality,” which examined concepts of reality in the visual arts of France, West Germany, East Germany, and Poland from 1960 to 1989. She completed her habilitation at Université Paris Ouest Nanterre in 2017. Her publications include “La réalité en partage,” a study of artistic relations between Eastern and Western Europe during the Cold War.
