Martin Waddell is a British author of children’s books. He has published around one hundred books, including numerous picture books and children’s titles, and has received several awards for his writing. In 2004, he won the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award, considered one of the highest international distinctions for authors and illustrators of children’s and young adult books. Waddell originally wanted to become a professional footballer.
