Martin Salisbury

Martin Salisbury taught illustration as a professor at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, where he designed and led the MA programme in children’s book illustration for many years. After studying at art school in the late 1970s, he worked as an illustrator, painter and part-time teacher. He has written several books on the practice and theory of illustration, including “Play Pen: New Children’s Book Illustration”, “100 Great Children’s Picturebooks”, “The Illustrated Dust Jacket: 1920–1970” and, with Morag Styles, “Children’s Picturebooks: The Art of Visual Storytelling”. He also served as chair of the international jury of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
