Martha Gellhorn

Martha Gellhorn (1908–1998) was an American author, essayist, travel writer, and war correspondent. She studied at Bryn Mawr College and moved to Paris in 1930. In 1937, she followed Ernest Hemingway to the Spanish Civil War; over the following decades, she reported from numerous international conflicts. Her works include the reportage collection The Face of War, as well as travel writing, fiction, and letters. Gellhorn died in London in 1998.
