Marlies van der Wel

Marlies van der Wel worked as a Dutch animation director and illustrator. She created animated short films and illustrated children’s books. Her animated film “Zeezucht,” on which the picture book of the same name is based, received multiple awards at international festivals and had its international premiere at the 2016 Berlinale. Her short film “Emily” was selected in 2019 as the Netherlands’ submission for the Oscars.
