Markus Spieker

Markus Spieker (born in 1970 in Duisburg) is a historian with a doctorate, journalist, and author. He studied history and film studies in Giessen and Los Angeles. He worked as a television correspondent at the ARD Capital Studio for twelve years and headed the ARD South Asia bureau from 2015 to 2018. He also worked as chief reporter for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk. His publications include the dissertation “Hollywood unterm Hakenkreuz: Der amerikanische Spielfilm im Dritten Reich” and the books “Übermorgenland: Eine Weltvorhersage,” “Jesus: Eine Weltgeschichte,” “Faithbook,” “Mehrwert,” and “Rock Me, Dostojewski” (with David Bühne).
