Markus Osterwalder

Markus Osterwalder, born near Zurich in 1947, is the creator of the picture-book character Bobo Siebenschläfer. After training as a typesetter, he worked as a graphic designer and layout artist, including for ZEITmagazin. He later served for many years as artistic director of the Paris-based children’s publisher L’école des loisirs. He also edited the reference work “Dictionnaire des Illustrateurs 1800–1914.” The first Bobo Siebenschläfer picture book was created in close collaboration with his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
