Markus Mattzick

Markus Mattzick was born in Gießen in 1972 and grew up in central Hesse. He studied geography, initially worked in building cleaning and asbestos remediation, and later moved into information technology. As a teenager, he wrote for his school newspaper and later for a city magazine. His first publication, the illustrated short story “Julius und der Dinosaurier,” was inspired by his son’s enthusiasm for dinosaurs. In 2021, he published his debut novel, “Ohne Strom – Wo sind deine Grenzen?”, a dystopian story about a blackout told from the perspective of ordinary people. Alongside writing, Mattzick performed as a guitarist and singer in rock bands, acoustic projects, and as a solo musician.
