Author · 1 book
Markus Bernauer studied German studies, art history, modern and general history, and philosophy in Basel, Marburg, and Berlin. He was an adjunct professor of literary studies at Technische Universität Berlin and headed the Jean Paul edition at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Commissioned by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy, he and Josefine Kitzbichler researched Germany’s previously neglected libertine literature. Their work resulted in the two-volume collection “Freiheit – Gleichheit – Sinnlichkeit. Literatur des Libertinismus in Deutschland,” which included numerous texts published in complete form for the first time.
