Markus Bennemann (b. 1971) studied history and English literature. He worked as a newspaper editor, wrote crime stories for television, and published nonfiction and children’s books as well as novels, often focusing on biological and nature-related themes. He also worked as a translator, freelance journalist, and science editor. His publications include the Berchtesgaden crime novels »Adlerblut«, »Wolfsbiss«, and »Tod am Steinernen Meer«, as well as the nonfiction book »Böse Bäume«. His books have been translated into several languages. In an appearance on Finnish evening news, he once demonstrated the death dance of the least weasel.
