Mario Casella

Mario Casella (born 1959) is a journalist, filmmaker and mountain guide. For many years, he worked for Radio and Television of Italian Switzerland (RSI), including as a foreign correspondent in Washington, D.C. He later produced his own books, films and expeditions. His film work includes “Siachen – A War for Ice,” about the Kashmir conflict, “Grozny Dreaming,” about an orchestra in the Caucasus, and “On the Summits of Iran,” about a ski tour across Iran; several films were made with director Fulvio Mariani. In 2018, Casella received the Albert Mountain Award in Pontresina for outstanding contributions to mountaineering.
