Marina Tsvetaeva (1892–1941) was a Russian poet and playwright. Born in Moscow, she emigrated in 1922 and subsequently lived in Berlin, Paris, and Prague, among other places. Her poetry, influenced by the tradition of Symbolism, is regarded as a significant contribution to twentieth-century Russian literature. She returned to the Soviet Union in 1939 and died by suicide in Yelabuga in 1941.
