Marietta Slomka is a German journalist and an economist by training. After working in the press and broadcasting in Bonn and Brussels, she became a parliamentary correspondent for ZDF and later joined its news department. From 2001, she moderated the broadcaster’s “heute journal” as its anchorwoman. Her journalism has been recognized with, among others, the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize, the Grimme Prize, and the German Television Award. Her books include “Kanzler lieben Gummistiefel. So funktioniert Politik” (2009), “Mein afrikanisches Tagebuch. Reise durch einen Kontinent im Aufbruch” (2011), and “Nachts im Kanzleramt” (2022).
